My
Story
As a very active child, I learnt the positive power of sport from a young age. Sport came naturally to me and I enjoyed it immensely. I was competitive and my passion for sport catalysed my rise through the ranks in multiple sports.
Nothing focused me like sport. This was the seed for my career.
I had experienced firsthand the positive impacts that sports create. I also gained deep awareness of the very real negative impacts sports can have.
When not executed correctly, sports can be a vehicle for harassment, discrimination and inequality. From hindering the development of children who don’t measure up to their screaming coaches to full-blown social deprivation, the ‘other’ side of sport is very real.
In today’s world, sporting programs are designed to support the pursuit of individual and team excellence. This is important, it supports achievements on many levels.
However, the greater outcome is when the design of sports programs are based upon the needs of participants and social results. This enables a great leap in development for the individual as well as communities.
With 20 years’ experience designing inclusive sporting programs, products and events that create both participant growth and social change, my passion for sport’s ability to impact social outcomes has been unwavering.
Working with Sport England, Oceania Sport Education Program, Sport New Zealand, Surfing Australia and Swimming Victoria, I’ve created programs that address the true needs of the sporting body, participants and community.
My creative process focuses on innovative, achievable solutions that deliver:
-
A physically and emotionally safe environment
-
The ability to satisfy multiple needs within target markets
-
Positive social change
When we focus on the change we want to see, the potential for sport’s positive impact is exponential.
